The Boggy Slough Conservation Area (BSCA) is a 19,000-acre property located in the piney woods of East Texas, roughly 16 miles west of Lufkin. The property is owned by the T.L.L. Temple Foundation, which has historical ties to the land dating back to 1902.
The BSCA property is managed with conservation objectives in mind, providing information for landowners and resource management professionals regarding methods for achieving these conservation objectives in East Texas. Their mission is “to serve as a model of excellence for East Texas through ecological research and outreach to promote conservation, management, and stewardship of natural resources.”
The T.L.L. Temple Foundation sought to design and construct new meeting and residential facilities that accommodate the foundation’s continued growth and serve the vision and mission of the BSCA.
The Meeting Facility will seat up to 80 attendees, and the combined Workshop & Residence will host visiting scientists and scholars. The site is strategically nestled within a natural clearing in the pine forest, on the north side of the Boggy Slough property.
